The U.S. administration provides a multi-billion dollar package of assistance to U.S. airlines severely affected by the coronavirus pandemic SARS-CoV-2. Ten airlines, including Delta, United, JetBlue and American Airlines, have agreed to accept government aid, the U.S. Treasury Department said Tuesday evening, April 14.
According to media reports, this is a $25 billion aid package. Most of that money will go to airline staff salaries to avoid layoffs.
U.S. President Donald Trump said the aid package is designed to help airlines “maintain the important role they play in our economy. The funds will enable airlines to survive a difficult phase that was not their fault. Because of the pandemic, U.S. airlines were forced to put about 2,400 aircraft on the prank.
