Police at the Capitol on April 2 reported three people were injured in an incident outside the U.S. Congress, the suspect in the disturbance has been detained.

Law enforcement officials specified that an unidentified man crashed a car into two officers at a checkpoint outside the U.S. Capitol. The officers and the intruder were taken to the hospital with injuries.

“The suspect is in custody. Both officers are injured. All three were taken to the hospital,” Capitol Police said in a post on Twitter.

On April 2, because of an “outside threat,” the Capitol was closed to entry and exit, and employees were prohibited from approaching the windows.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said she was unaware of the security threat situation at the Capitol.
