The Italian Data Protection Authority has ordered the partial blocking of access to the social network TikTok due to the death of a 10-year-old service user who lived in Palermo, ANSA reported on January 22.

It is noted that the platform blocked the accounts of all users whose age “has not been precisely established. This measure will be valid until February 15.

The reason for this decision was the death of a 10-year-old girl. The child died as a result of strangulation, taking part in the challange, launched in TikTok.

The Italian prosecutor’s office opened an investigation into the tragedy. Investigators confiscated the victim’s smartphone.

In January 2019, YouTube banned videos of life-threatening challenges after a mass poisoning of children with laundry capsules and accidents triggered by blindfolded drivers.
