In East Antarctica found evidence of the fall of a large asteroid. Scientists from Russia, the USA and Europe took part in the research. The catastrophe occurred about 430 thousand years ago. Geologists believe that this event was larger than the fall of the Tunguska or Chelyabinsk meteorite.

The celestial body exploded on approach to the surface of the planet. The asteroid has turned into a jet of molten material. The explosion left traces – tiny spherules up to 300 micrometers in size – in the rocks.
