Donald Trump fired State Department Inspector General Steve Linick due to a loss of confidence. The U.S. leader has already notified Congress about this, reported the Politico newspaper on May 15.
Trump said he “no longer trusts” Linick, and promised to send a new candidate for Senate approval in the near future.
Stephen Ackard will act as inspector general of the State Department.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi has already criticized Trump’s decision, saying that Linik’s dismissal is directed against “patriotic civil servants” and is “retaliation.
According to the publication, Linique has initiated an investigation against Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for abuse of power.
In February, it was reported that Trump fired three officials, who opposed him at hearings during the impeachment process
