Trump suggested that police could be disbanded in a number of US cities

Donald Trump said that in a number of cases supporters of deprivation of police funding could achieve their goal, but the residents of those localities would later demand the return of law enforcement agencies.

Radical politicians want to deprive the country of funding and dissolve the police, he said. Trump said he did not believe at first that those demands were real.

“When I first heard about it, I said that’s the only way they say <...>, but they’re actually trying to do it”.

For his part, Justice Minister and Attorney General William Barr said that the authorities intend to provide as much support to the police as possible, more training and resources. A similar opinion is held by U.S. Vice President Michael Pence, who said that, despite all the talks, the president and administration would protect the police.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump was outraged at the proposal to deprive the police of funding and said that law enforcement should use a “suitable” level of violence in their work.

In early June, the Democratic Party submitted to Congress a bill on major police reform. The document proposed to limit the powers of the police to use force, to ban strangulation techniques and to allocate funds for independent investigations of police actions.

Former U.S. vice president and Trump’s main rival in the 2020 elections, Joe Biden, had previously advocated the reform.

According to lawmakers, the case of the death of African American George Floyd in Minneapolis indicates the need for a radical change in the police. A man died after four law enforcement officers attempted to arrest him.
