Two Dutch soldiers were killed in a helicopter crash near Aruba. This was reported by the Netherlands Broadcasting Corporation on Monday, 20 July.
According to the channel, the helicopter was flying between Aruba and Curacao on Sunday afternoon local time when it suddenly fell into the sea. There were four people on board. Two of them had been saved and had not been injured. A 34-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man were killed, said Rob Bauer, Commander of the Netherlands Armed Forces. Their names are not mentioned.
The emergency occurred 12.5 km off the coast. The Dutch military has launched an investigation into the tragedy. Divers are looking for “black boxes”.
