Two footballers died in Mexico City from a lightning strike and three others got burns, Universal reported Monday, July 27.

The women’s soccer league match, held in Mexico’s Tlahuac municipality, was stopped by the rain. The ball remained on the football field, and five girls came back for it, and at that moment lightning struck. All the victims were immediately hospitalized, but the two athletes could not be saved, they died. According to the newspaper, one of them was a minor.

Three footballers got second-degree burns. It is noted that their lives are in no danger.
