Two rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israel, two people were injured. This was reported by The Times of Israel with reference to the army of the country.
Earlier in the cities of Ashkelon and Ashdod in the south of the country, sirens of air alarms were triggered to warn of possible rocket attacks.
The Israeli army’s press office confirmed that rockets had been fired at the cities and that one of the shells had been intercepted by an air defense system.
In Ashdod, the strike caused minor damage to one of the streets and the building on it. According to the doctors, two men were slightly injured by shrapnel.
Law enforcers and bomb squad officers work on the spot, Haaretz writes. Allegedly, four more people needed medical care after the shock.
The attack from the Gaza Strip comes against the backdrop of a ceremony in Washington, D.C., to sign reconciliation agreements between Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. As Jewish Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted, the normalization of relations between the countries will put an end to the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Against the background of politicians’ statements about the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and Bahrain, as well as about the signing of an agreement on the normalization of relations between Israel and the UAE, Palestine recalled its ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, considering this step by Abu Dhabi as an aggression against its people and disregard for their rights and sacred places.
