U.S. authorities accuse 18 former NBA players of cheating

The U.S. authorities arrested 18 former NBA players. The athletes are accused of scamming nearly $4 million. Among those arrested are league champion Glenn “Big Baby” Davis and a number of other former star players.

Investigators believe the scammers were faking medical bills. Players submitted reports for procedures they did not undergo. The scammers managed to get $2.5 million in back payments. The scheme was made possible by the NBA’s special medical program. Since 2017, the league has been reimbursing players for part of their medical expenses.
