U.S. Embassy denied intercepting a shipment of medical masks to Germany

The United States did not intercept a shipment of masks destined for Germany and was not aware of such shipments. This was stated by the representative of the American Embassy in Germany on Monday, April 6.

“The U.S. government did not do anything to redirect 3M masks destined for Germany and was not aware of such shipments,” the Der Tagesspiegel newspaper quoted him as saying.

The U.S. diplomat added that the United States is working with its allies and partners to provide humanitarian assistance to countries in need and to counteract the Coronavirus pandemic.

He also expressed concern over “widespread attempts” to split international efforts to combat the infection through misinformation campaigns without revealing the sources of information.

Earlier, on April 3, Andreas Geisel, a representative of the Berlin Senate for Home Affairs, said that Germany would not receive 400,000 respiratory masks from China, as they were bought by the United States.
