A supply convoy for the American military was attacked in southern Iraq.
The incident took place between the towns of Es-Samava and Diwaniya. Militants on pickup trucks attacked a convoy of four trucks, took the drivers out of their cars and set fire to the trucks.
The Iraqis were behind the wheel. The trucks were on their way to a US military base. The attackers fled.
Dissatisfaction with the presence of foreign military personnel has become more acute in Iraq recently. American bases and diplomatic missions are regularly attacked.
Washington accuses pro-Iranian armed groups operating in Iraq of attacks.
