UFC Vegas 31: Nurmagomedov’s successor defeats Moises

Russian MMA fighter Islam Makhachev, which is considered the successor of the former UFC lightweight champion Habib Nurmagomedov, beat Brazilian Thiago Moises with a choking hold in the main battle of the tournament UFC Vegas 31.

The meeting took place on July, 17-18th in Las Vegas (USA) and ended in the fourth round after a successful choking hold performed by the Russian fighter. This is Makhachev’s eighth consecutive victory in the UFC.

Earlier, Islam Makhachev announced his desire to fight Brazilian Rafael Dos Anjos. According to him, he is ready to help the former UFC champion “retire.” “This guy is always running away. He’s old. Yes, I understand that he wants to make money,” Makhachev noted.

Makhachev is a student of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. The Russian is said to be the successor of coach Khabib Nurmagomedov’s son. In particular, Javier Mendez, head coach of American Kickboxing Academy (AKA), holds such an opinion.
