According to the law, $600 is added to the weekly unemployment benefit until July 31. Combined with the allowance paid by the States, the average payments to dismissed or sent on unpaid leave to employees reach $987, while last year’s average was $378.
At the same time, the data of the Department of Labor show that half of fully employed employees earned less than $957 per week in the first quarter of 2020, i.e. less than the average unemployment benefits at present.
