Contract for Russian gas transit through Poland expires on May 17. The Polish side refused to extend it. This information was confirmed by Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov.

According to him, the company will continue to supply gas through Poland, but has not specified the cost of transit and its volume.

The contract on gas transit through the Yamal-Europe pipeline was concluded back in the 1990s. The agreement envisages pumping gas through Poland to Europe. The annual gas supplies amount to 33 billion cubic metres.

Since 2022 Warsaw intends to completely ignore Russian gas, preferring it to fuel from Norway and the USA.

Earlier, Polish Deputy Minister of State Affairs Janusz Kowwalski said in a conversation with journalists that Warsaw intends to try to seize the assets of the Nord Stream – 2 gas pipeline.
