WHO reported more than 20 million cases of COVID-19 worldwide

The number of confirmed cases of new coronavirus in the world exceeded 20 million, more than 737 thousand people died. This was announced by the World Health Organization (WHO) on its Twitter page on August 12.

In the last 24 hours, 214,985 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been detected worldwide and 4835 patients have died. Thus, since the beginning of the pandemic, 20,162,474 cases have been detected worldwide, bringing the total number of deaths to 737,417.

On August 11, a vaccine based on the adenoviral vector was registered with the Russian Ministry of Health. It was the first registered vaccine against new coronavirus infection SARS-COV-2 in the world. It will enter civil circulation on January 1, 2021.

After that WHO stated that it welcomed all achievements in the field of coronavirus vaccine development, any safe and effective drug will become a global public good.
