Azerbaijan has used tactical aviation in Karabakh and the fighting continues. Representative of the Armenian Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan said this on October 21.
“Since morning, battles have continued in all directions of the line of contact. <...> The Azerbaijani Armed Forces used aviation, mainly tactical planes, but failed to achieve success,” Hovhannisyan said.
According to him, there was a tense situation in the central direction, Azerbaijani subversive groups tried to penetrate the Karabakh forces’ positions there, but retreated under artillery fire.
“All attempts to advance Azerbaijani troops were stopped,” Hovhannisyan said.
According to him, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces use artillery and armored vehicles, subversive, assault groups and infantry, but battles are not as fierce as in previous days.
Earlier the same day Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev reported about taking under the control of Azerbaijani Armed Forces 22 settlements in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Baku also reported on the destruction of three Armenian drones by the Azerbaijani military in Nagorno-Karabakh.
The second stage of negotiations in Karabakh that took effect on the night of October 18 was again disrupted – Baku and Yerevan continued to attack and accuse each other of offensive operations.
Escalation of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh took place on September 27. Baku and Yerevan, contesting the belonging of the region, laid the responsibility for aggravation of the conflict on each other.
