“You are the champions”: a new version of the legendary Queen’s title for healthcare workers

The legendary British band Queen, with Adam Lambert on vocals, has recorded a new version of their famous song “We are the champions” for charity for healthcare workers around the world, which will be released on Friday.

Renamed “You are the champions” as a tribute to carers, the song is accompanied by a video clip showing doctors and nurses fighting the new coronavirus around the world.
Proceeds from the title will be donated to the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund, set up by the World Health Organization (WHO), which provides gowns, testing kits and training to frontline health workers fighting the pandemic.

“Just like our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents who fought for us in two world wars, these brave warriors on the front line are our new CHAMPIONS,” said guitarist Brian May in a statement.

“As the father of a daughter on the front lines, I am extremely aware of the vital work they do every day to save us and our society,” added drummer Roger Taylor, whose daughter is a doctor in London.
