Zuckerberg and Gates will allocate $25 million to fight the coronavirus

U.S. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan, along with the charity of one of the founders of Microsoft Bill Gates will send $ 25 million to study drugs that can help infected coronavirus. The spouses reported this in an interview with CBS.

According to Chan, she and her husband, through their foundation Chan Zuckerberg, will finance testing of existing drugs for their effectiveness in the fight against coronavirus.

“The idea, in this case, is partly that a drug can often be effective against several diseases,” Zuckerberg explained. As he added, it is possible to establish the effectiveness of drugs in preventing infection or mitigating symptoms of coronavirus.

In January, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation announced a $10 million commitment to combat the spread of the new type of coronavirus. Part of this amount was allocated to fight the infection in China, the other half was donated to Africa.
